Deputy Operations Manager - Carlisle Events

To support the Contract Manager in ensuring Carlisle Support Services successfully deliver its contractual operational targets for all event operations at Manchester Central, whilst ensuring full compliance to customer's terms of business, service level agreements (SLA's), health and safety requirements and legislation associated with the delivery of this service.

What you'll do

The key focus of the role is to deliver safe and secure Events for MCCC, with excellence in search operations, crowd management, customer service, response, general event management, recruitment, fulfilment, and financial return.

Your Essential Responsibilities will involve, but not be limited to these core elements:

Cultural

  • Create and maintain a unified service delivery methodology for security based around the value of Carlisle Support Services and Manchester Central
  • Embrace and deliver an operation in line with the values of Manchester Central

Operational

  • Ensure service levels delivered adhere to our contract terms and client SLA's
  • Schedule and roster all staff in line with Event requirements
  • Ensure all arbitrations and site cards are up to date post Event
  • Develop monthly staff communications- video or newsletter
  • Support Pre-Event briefings
  • Produce Pre-Event packs
  • Lead recruitment plan and complete interviews and inductions
  • Identify and introduce ways to improve service delivery that improve cost base and enhance customer/stakeholder satisfaction
  • Attend as requested customer meetings
  • Laisse as requested with the 'customers customer'
  • Ensure all staff work in a professional and safe manner always
  • Maintain SOP's and AI's- update monthly
  • Liaise with and book sub contractors, ensuring PO's raise

Compliance

  • Review HSQE audits and complete actions
  • Manage sub-contractor compliance process
  • Ensure all security officers and stewards are deployed in line with the rigours of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 in terms of aligned licensing and training for officers and issues of screening for matters of safeguarding
  • Ensure all security officers have safe systems of work for all tasks undertaken which are communicated and understood by all team members and documented as being so.
  • Communicate Health and Safety processes and policies to all staff and ensure they remain adequately trained including contract specific training
  • Ensure adherence to accreditation system where applicable
  • Ensure all event reports are completed, including incident and accident reports

People

  • Support CM in developing a standard training plan for all staff, including sub-contractors
  • Direct staff and monitor performance via an effective performance review process and managing any staff performance issues promptly and in line with HR guidelines
  • Act as an operational lead on major events where required and develop competent supervisors for small events
  • Create a positive environment and culture where employees choose to work
  • Responsibility for the correct payment of all staff including ensuring full compliance on holiday, bank holiday, arbitrations and sick pay

Financial

  • Prepare and sign off all POs in line with company procedures in correct month
  • Support CSS finance team with invoicing values as needed

Stakeholder Relationships

  • Attend weekly meetings with MCCC Operational, Events and Security team
  • Establish and encourage proactively working relationships with multiple departments of MCCC
  • Establish and encourage proactive working relationships with the key client stakeholders and local community

Divisional Promotion & Social Media Presence

  • Internal - Regularly post good news stories and values driven material on the Carlisle employee engagement portal
  • Externally - Regularly post good news stories and values driven material on LinkedIn and other relevant media

What you'll need

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • SIA Licensed
  • Excellent understanding of the UK Security industry
  • Knowledge and experience of running event operations (Desirable)
  • Knowledge and experience of dealing with physical and electronic security methods and measures
  • Core Monday-Friday 9-5, flexible weekend work/evening for all Events as needed and with days off in lieu given

  • Excellent communication skills - articulate and focussed, proficient written skills, good listener
  • A good people manager, able to motivate and optimise outputs from team members.
  • Keen commercial skills with the ability to understand and control a P&L
  • Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and deliver to deadlines
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Ideally hold a full UK driving license
  • Flexibility around working hours and patterns
  • You should be personable and proactive
  • You must be available to cover nights and Weekends
  • Excellent communication skills and an aptitude for working with the public and leading a team
