Whilst keeping a converted Victoria train station operational has its challenges, Duncan and his team work around the clock to ensure that the venue is ready to welcome c. 500,000 delegates a year.

Speaking about his award win, Duncan said: “It’s all a bit surreal really. I was shocked to be nominated and even more surprised to have won! Manchester Central isn’t just a job to me, I love the building from top to bottom - if you could build me a house in here I’d live in it”.

And Duncan’s work ethic doesn’t stop at the venue, he also assists local businesses during their times of need, recently staying late to help a nearby hotel get their electrical supply back after a power cut.

Shaun Hinds, CEO, said: “There’s not a bolt, screw or valve in Manchester Central that Duncan doesn’t know about, and we’re delighted that his hard work has been recognised. Duncan really does epitomise our ‘one team’ company value and whilst he might not necessarily always be seen by our visitors, it’s people like him who make all of the difference’.
