Manchester Central has taken home silver at the much coveted Enjoy England Awards for Excellence in the Business Tourism category.
The venue gained praise from industry experts following the completion of a £30million redevelopment, which added more than 4,000m2 of flexible client facing space, sympathetically designed to reflect the original and modern architecture of Manchester.
Lesley Tomlinson, Chief Executive, said: “We are very pleased to have been awarded silver at the National Awards for Excellence. It means a great deal to everyone who works at Manchester Central and we are delighted to have our efforts recognised by our peers.
“The venue has generated in excess of £56million of economic impact for Manchester in the last 12 months and is set to increase this figure by a further £4million in the next financial year. This performance is particularly impressive given the challenging economic climate. We are very proud to be part of the Manchester conferencing offer and we are looking forward to continued growth in the years to come.”
This award is the latest in a host of prestigious titles that Manchester Central has recently claimed, including;
- UK Venue of the Year at the AEO Excellence Awards 2010
- The Business Tourism Award at the Manchester Tourism Awards in March 2011
- Venue of the Year at the Events Services Association (TESA) Awards in March 2011
- The CIAT Open Award for Technical Excellence in Architectural Technology
2011 is set to be another busy year for Manchester Central as it attracts increasing numbers of national and international association conferences. The venue will once again play host to the Conservative Party Conference in October and the CIPD annual conference in November, while also hosting a growing number of large corporate conferences.
