Manchester Central short-listed for Exhibition Awards

Following a record-breaking year, Manchester Central has been announced as a finalist in the Venue of the Year category in the national Exhibition News Awards 2011.
Exhibition News is the UK’s leading dedicated exhibition magazine. Now in its fifth year, the awards celebrate the success of venues, events and organisers in the exhibition industry, and the editor has praised the ‘high calibre’ of entrants this year saying that competition had been ‘fierce’.
Paula Lorimer, Sales Director at Manchester Central, said; “After 25 years in the exhibition and event business, Manchester Central continues to experience success hosting a wide range of trade and public exhibitions in the north west.”
“The past couple of years have been difficult for some organisers and we have worked very hard to support our clients throughout this period. A number of shows held at Manchester Central have enjoyed increased visitor numbers, defying the challenging economic conditions.”
In 2010, visitor numbers to Green Build Expo increased by 47%, while the Big Bang Fair reached 22,500 visitors, more than triple the numbers posted in London the previous year.
Paula added; “Manchester Central’s business mix has changed significantly during its 25 years, moving with the market as it trends towards ‘confex’ style events rather than stand alone exhibitions. That said, exhibitions are still an integral part of the Manchester Central offer and we are delighted to be shortlisted in the Exhibition News awards.”
The winner will be announced in London on Friday 20 May 2011.
