Manchester Central celebrates another award win

Hot on the heals of winning the Best UK Venue at AEO Excellence Awards, Manchester Central Convention Complex has now won the prestigious award of Excellence in Business Tourism, at the North West Tourism Awards, held on the on 29 September.

Manchester Central’s Chief Executive, Lesley Tomlinson, commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this award. The team at Manchester Central have worked incredibly hard this year, in what has been a challenging time while the Venue has undergone substantial redevelopment. I would also like to pay tribute to our many loyal clients who have been very supportive during the transformation of the Venue”.    

Lesley added: “We have invested £30m redeveloping our facilities, increasing the   overall client facing space by over 4,000m2. The new flexible facilities will also mean that the Venue will be able to host more events simultaneously, especially during peak periods. We are really looking forward to officially launching our “new look” Venue in the New Year and celebrating our 25th anniversary”. 

Last week Manchester Central welcomed the Labour Party for their third annual conference in the city. The conference is expected to have attracted 12,000 visitors, generating more than £15.5m of economic benefit for the city and its surrounding regions.

Manchester Central is one of the biggest drivers of business tourism in the region, delivering an estimated £56m of economic impact to the North West each year.
