With a brand new foyer and the completion of their £28 million redevelopment programme in sight, the team from Manchester Central Convention Complex will be at Confex 2010 inviting visitors to take a closer look at the ‘new Manchester Central’.
Commenting, Manchester Central’s Sales Director, Paula Lorimer, said;”This is an exciting time for us at Manchester Central. We’ve invested £28m over three phases of redevelopment giving us far greater flexibility around our offering, as well as lots more space. Now we’re able to deliver tailor made events to a far wider audience than ever before. In 2010 we will unveil the completed third phase and welcome everyone to what really is a world class venue at the heart of a world class city.”
Visitors to Confex will see that the recent completion of the new Central Foyer has given this iconic venue a brand new look and additional facilities for organisers to benefit from.
To construct the new exterior the old smoked glass foyer was demolished and replaced by a stylish, flat-roofed, clear glazed structure, giving direct access to the iconic Central Hall. The new foyer exposes much more of the buildings original Grade II listed architecture and gives impressive views of the building both internally and externally.
The interior of central foyer is much larger than its predecessor and can be accessed directly from the venue’s underground car park. The Foyer contains a fully functional reception/registration desk and event space for up to 2000 people. Within Central Foyer there is a combination of rooms and flexible spaces with capacities ranging from 40 - 180 delegates theatre style. Central Foyer and the enclosed rooms can be booked individually or as part of a package.
Central Foyer also has dedicated restaurant space to house an independently run restaurant. Details of which will be announced in the near future.
The new Central Foyer also links in to Charter Foyer, which was completed in November 2008 during the first phase of the redevelopment programme. The two new foyers enable a greater ease of access within the Manchester Central site, which is a key benefit for attracting large association events to the city. The additional entranceway also increases availability at Manchester Central as it enables the venue to run numerous events simultaneously.
Work on the third and final phase of the redevelopment programme is underway and will include three additional conference rooms, with capacities from 400 – 2000 seated theatre style, as well as a brand new restaurant facility.
Manchester Central will be on the Manchester Stand (B430).
